The Black River Falls Area Foundation has announced that the Second Annual Foundation Trail Maintenance Fund Walk that was held May 14 was a great success, raising nearly $4,000. Over 200 individuals and businesses made donations. The walk began at the Lunda Community Park and participants could walk all or part of the 4.3- mile Foundation Trail that circles the city.
The top winners of pledges were Gerald and Nancy Laabs in the Individual/Family category and the Karen Stai Koenigs Insurance Agency in the Business/Organization category. Their awards will be presented at the Friends of the Foundation Social Gathering on June 28th at the Holiday Inn Express.
The walk committee members Ron Danielson, John Hogden, Dave Millis, Mary O’Brien and Fred Stai say that the proceeds from the walk will be used for improvements and maintenance of the Foundation Trail, including refinishing the benches, updating new name plates on the benches and in other areas along the trail, and resurfacing the trail.
The committee members thank the following corporate sponsors: Clinic Pharmacy, Millis Transfer, Jackson County Bank, Co-op Credit Union, Karen Stai Koenigs Insurance Agency Inc., Milt and Lydia Lunda, Banner Journal & Shopper, D & S Manufacturing, Sand Creek Brewing Co., and Ripp Distributing Co., Inc. They also thanked Woods Sales and Service for the gators, the Miss Black River Falls Court for their participation, and Black River Memorial Hospital for the “dwarf heads” worn by the court in the children’s parade.
