Foundation Trail Walk raises nearly $4,000

The Foundation Trail Walk that was held during Oktoberfest on October 4th was a great success, raising $3,658 for the Trail Maintenance Fund. The walk began at 9 a.m. near the Chamber of Commerce and participants could walk all or part of the 4.1 mile trail that circles the city.  The walk is sponsored each year by the Black River Falls Area Foundation.

The top winners of pledges/donations were Kirk and Michelle Lane in the Individual/Family category with $250 and Wal-Mart in the Business/Organization category with $1,000.  Their names will be added to an engraved plaque, which is located near the walk by the Chamber of Commerce building.

A new feature this year was Golf Cart Rides around the trail for people who could not, or chose not to walk the trail.  These rides began at 11 a.m. at the Skyline Golf Course and raised $110.

The walk committee members Todd Anderson, Ron Danielson, Dave Millis, Mary O’Brien and Fred Stai said that the proceeds from the walk will be used for improvements to and maintenance of the Foundation Trail.

The committee members extended their appreciation to all the walkers, team captains, and individuals, families and businesses for their monetary support; Ripp Distributing Co., Inc. for the bottled water; Karen Stai Koenigs Insurance Agency for the water bottles; and the golf cart drivers Fred Stai, Ron Danielson, Dick Piette, Allan Hostrawser, and Mike, Andrea and Danica Rockney for their time.

“It was a beautiful day and a great way to start the Oktoberfest event,” said the committee members, “and raise money for the maintenance of the Foundation Trail that is used and enjoyed by so many people.”
