FRIENDS Luncheon Postponed

Dear Friends of the Foundation and other Donors,

As promised, the Foundation Officers have been closely monitoring the Covid situation in our community. We continue to see changes in the Delta variant and in suggested safety precautions, particularly with regard to in person gatherings. After much discussion and careful consideration, we believe postponing our Friends Luncheon scheduled for Tuesday, September 14, is the right thing to do. While we are very disappointed, we feel this is the best decision to help keep our Friends, attendees, vendors, and the community as a whole, safe and healthy.

We are planning to proceed with our combination Friends Luncheon/Honorary Tribute to Gil Homstad as soon as our Covid advisors indicate it is safe to do so. We will keep the community informed of our plans moving forward via the Banner Journal and Shopper, as well as, our Facebook page and Website. In addition, if you would like an email notification with information about the re-scheduled event, please send an email to our office so we have your address.

Due to the pandemic, 2020 was the first year since the inception of the Friends group that no luncheon was held. At this point, it is uncertain whether we will be able to gather in 2021, or if it will be 2022 before we can host our postponed event. The Foundation’s annual Friends Luncheon is our only fundraising event each year and 100% of the donations are used to fund grant requests. If you have not yet had an opportunity to send a Friends contribution, please consider doing so at this time. Your donation provides the opportunity to help the most community members possible by helping to fund our grants to many local non-profit organizations. For those of you who have already sent donations, we sincerely appreciate your support. Thank you! Everyone making a Friends donation and/or a donation in recognition of Gil’s service to our community, will be acknowledged in our Annual Report(s) and at the rescheduled Friends Luncheon, as well as receiving a copy of our Annual Report early this Fall. Gil will be advised of all gifts given in his honor. Donations sent with RSVPs will not be deposited until September 13. Under the circumstances, if anyone would like their donation check returned, please notify the Foundation office by Friday, September 10.
